Playboy model Amanda Lauren is opening up about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Charlie Sheen, whom she dated until just months before he revealed his HIV diagnosis.

Amanda, 36, has moved on since dating the actor for nine months in 2015, and on April 17 she tied the knot with her new husband, fellow model Adam Mann, 29 — but while her love story with Adam made the New York Times Vows section this month, it’s her relationship with Sheen that continues to captivate.

New Jersey native Amanda says that she always knew the Two and a Half Men star wasn’t ‘The One,’ but she still looks back ‘very fondly’ on their time together.

‘I look back very fondly on our relationship,’ she told Jam Press. ‘It was filled with adventure, romance and so much laughter. [But] I always knew that Charlie wasn’t The One’

‘He was never going to be my forever, but rather my Mr. Right Now,’ she said

Amanda, who was born Amanda Bruce, met Charlie, 55, through a friend in 2015 and went on to date him for the better part of a year. 

‘He was at the tail end of his bad four years,’ she told the Times. ‘I have nothing bad to say about Charlie. It just didn’t work out.’ 

A former nurse, Amanda supported Charlie during those first few difficult months after he publicly shared his HIV status, despite the couple no longer being together.

‘I look back very fondly on our relationship,’ she told Jam Press. ‘It was filled with adventure, romance and so much laughter. [But] I always knew that Charlie wasn’t The One.

‘When we decided to not date other people, he made it very clear that he never wanted to marry again. I respected his frankness and this allowed us to have a very open and honest relationship.

‘He was never going to be my forever, but rather my Mr. Right Now.

‘After he was diagnosed with HIV, I went to New York City with him and went on Dr. Oz [as a nurse] and his ex-girlfriend in an effort to decrease the stigma attached to HIV and support Charlie.’

She said the two were intimate ‘every day,’ and that she first consulted doctors and took PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxisto) to lower her risk of contracting the virus before they had sex. 

‘I mean, if I had met him on one night, and we had decided to engage in this, I’d say, “That’s Russian Roulette,”‘ she said. ‘The reality is, we had known each other for many months before we engaged in [sexual relations], and we were a couple, I was in love with him.’    

The two were exclusive when they started having unprotected sex, according to Amanda, who also noted that Charlie was always good about taking his medication.  

Although they remain on good terms to this day, Amanda is now happily married — but says she had to ‘kiss way too many frogs’ to find her Prince Charming. 

In 2016, Amanda had quit nursing and move to Paris to work as a model, and had been flying back and forth between Paris and London when the pandemic hit.

She and her Gloucester, England-born husband, Adam, met on Hinge last year, but were ‘bored in lockdown’ and couldn’t meet in person for some time.  

‘Adam did offer to drive three hours just to meet me but there was never a good time and we were still in lockdown,’ she said.

‘After working in Dubai, I flew home to London and decided I had to see Adam. We’d been chatting every day for over a month by now and I knew he was special,’ she said.

‘I could never have guessed we’d be married four months later!’ 

Due to work commitments, Adam and Amanda were both set to spend Christmas and New Year in Dubai separately — until he was diagnosed with COVID-19. 

By this point, the pair had only met a few times, but Amanda was determined to be by his side. 

‘I couldn’t stand the thought of him being on his own for Christmas and being ill so I invited him to quarantine with me in the flat I rented by the Burj Khalifa,’ she said. 

‘I’m a trained nurse and I had COVID-19 in March 2020, so I felt I was safe,’ she continued. ‘Adam moved in and although I felt nervous I was also really excited.

‘Our relationship will always be a happy memory in my life,’ she said

‘Because we were still getting to know each other, we had date nights in the flat when we’d get dressed up. Adam even created a movie night corner.

‘Luckily, he didn’t really get too ill — just a bit tired. Just after the New Year, Adam told me he loved me.

‘He said getting COVID-19 and falling in love over his holiday was the “perfect disaster.” We wouldn’t have had it any other way.’

The couple returned to the UK soon after, and three months after first saying ‘I love you,’ Amanda and Adam decided to get married.

There was even interest from networks to feature their love story in a reality TV show.

She said: ‘There was no formal proposal but Adam had made it very clear that he wanted to marry me and I said the same.’ 

Just three weeks after deciding to get hitched, the couple wed on April 17 in New York’s Central Park.

She said: ‘Our wedding was simple and elegant. I wore a white dress and Adam wore a black tux and we said our vows under the cherry blossoms in Central Park’

‘I’ve finally met my Prince Charming after having to kiss way too many frogs!’ she said

‘It was very intimate. We only had a few guests to act as our witnesses along with two photographers, two videographers and the officiant who married us.

‘We wrote our own vows and it was simple, beautiful and the happiest day of my life,’ she went on. ‘Afterwards we took a horse and carriage ride through Central Park and ordered the best Italian food for our dinner which we ate in our suite over champagne.’

The couple stayed at the InterContinental Hotel and are currently honeymooning south of the equator.

As for her ex, Charlie was not present at the ceremony but there’s no bad blood between the pair. 

Amanda said: ‘I’m proud of how far he’s come and I wish him nothing but the best.

‘Our relationship will always be a happy memory in my life but with that said, I truly have never been happier and I’ve finally met my Prince Charming after having to kiss way too many frogs!’
